Save the dates!

Kevin Duffy and his crew at Oracle are happy to announce that the dates and locations for this year’s Oracle Rdb and Oracle Database on OpenVMS Technical Forums have been set. This year the Forums are being held in cooperation with HP, VSI, Intel, Connect, the local HP User Group organizations and our Oracle partners. The Forum agendas will include presentations from all of these companies and groups.

The dates and locations are:
    October 1-2, Burlington, MA, USA
October 5-6, Redwood Shores, CA, USA
October 12-13, Utrecht, Netherlands
October 15-16, Kista, Sweden
October 19-20, Vienna, Austria
October 22-23, London, UK
October 26-27, Paris, France
December 1-2, North Ryde, Australia

All of the Forums will be held at the Oracle offices at the above locations with the exception of Vienna which will be held at the HP office. Registration is not yet open and the agendas are not yet finalized, but we are sending this announcement now so that you can save the dates and begin making plans for your travel.

Once registration is open and the agendas are finalized, we will be sending follow-up mails and the agendas will be posted online on the Oracle registration page

The Burlington Forum will be held just following this year’s Connect OpenVMS Boot Camp in Nashua, NH. The Forum will be held in Burlington, MA instead of Nashua, NH because we have larger conference facilities there. The drive from Nashua to Burlington is about 30-45 minutes depending on traffic.

See you in Burlington, MA!

New PCSI kits for Curl and ZLIB
Monday, July 6, 2015, 03:53 PM

Curl 7.43, ZLIB 1.2.8e1 PCSI kits should now install on VSI VMS releases.

Curl 7.43 is now available for VMS including the VSI VMS releases. It requires ZLIB 1.2.8e1 PCSI kit to also be installed.

This is the current release of Curl for all platforms.

This build of Curl will use the SSL, Kerberos and LDAP that are installed on current versions of VMS by default.

Curl provides a 32 bit libcurl shared image and while Curl installs in the same directory tree as GNV, it does not require GNV to be installed.

Curl detects when running under GNV or DCL and automatically adjusts itself to the desired mode.

Home again...

Well, the last two week has had me up and down the length of California. It was not for business but for family and friends.

Spent time with my Mother. We gave her a trip to see family and friends as a combined Christmas and Birthday Gift. She loved it. And I must admit I enjoyed it, too.

We met family we had not seen before, a cousin's daughter who is finishing college - it has been a while since we visited some of the family. We also met a nephew's wife and daughter whom we had not yet had the chance to meet.

Glad to be home and now looking to get some work done before I head to Austin at the end of the month for some work with a client. I hope to get some OpenVMS Cluster nodes built and operational and get back to Open Source on OpenVMS development and support.

Bill.
